We are just entering our spring season 2022 and we already had the opportunity to saw up this beautiful Oak Log. The entire log weighed in at over 10,000 lb so we had to split it in 2 pieces for handling. The top section featured quite a few branch sections, which yielded some very interesting grain patterns. Some of the larger slabs were over 50″ wide.
The base of the tree consisted of a nice straight 36″ diameter section. It yielded some nice straight grain patterns.
By cutting 2.5″ thick slabs we were able to get 12 slabs out of each half. The final yield was 24 good 2.5″ slabs plus a few extra thinner slabs.
